  ID: TRI27_HUMAN
DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Zinc finger protein RFP; EC=6.3.2.-; AltName: Full=RING finger protein 76; AltName: Full=Ret finger protein; AltName: Full=Tripartite motif-containing protein 27;
FUNCTION: Has a transcriptional repressor activity by cooperating with EPC1. Induces apoptosis by activating Jun N-terminal kinase and p38 kinase and also increases caspase-3-like activity independently of mitochondrial events. May function in male germ cell development. Has DNA-binding activity and preferentially bound to double-stranded DNA (By similarity). E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that mediates ubiquitination of PIK3C2B and inhibits its activity; mediates the formation of 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains; the function inhibits CD4 T-cell activation.
SUBUNIT: Homomultimerizes. Interacts with PML, EIF3S6, EPC1, CHD4 and EID1. Interacts with MAGED4, MAGEF1 and MAGEL2.
INTERACTION: P60228:EIF3E; NbExp=7; IntAct=EBI-719493, EBI-347740;
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus (By similarity). Cytoplasm (By similarity). Nucleus, PML body (By similarity). Note=Nuclear or cytoplasmic depending on the cell type (By similarity). Colocalized with PML and EIF3S6 in nuclear bodies.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in testis namely within the seminiferous tubules.
DOMAIN: The coiled-coil region mediates interaction with EPC1 and CHD4. The B box and coiled-coil domains mediate interaction with PML. The B box and the distal coiled-coil domains mediate homomultimerisation. The B30.2 domain mediates interaction with EIF3S6.
DISEASE: Defects in TRIM27 are a cause of thyroid papillary carcinoma (TPC) [MIM:188550]. TPC is a common tumor of the thyroid that typically arises as an irregular, solid or cystic mass from otherwise normal thyroid tissue. Papillary carcinomas are malignant neoplasm characterized by the formation of numerous, irregular, finger-like projections of fibrous stroma that is covered with a surface layer of neoplastic epithelial cells. Note=A chromosomal aberration involving TRIM27/RFP is found in thyroid papillary carcinomas. Translocation t(6;10)(p21.3;q11.2) with RET. The translocation generates TRIM27/RET and delta TRIM27/RET oncogenes.
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the TRIM/RBCC family.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 B box-type zinc finger.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 B30.2/SPRY domain.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 RING-type zinc finger.

-  Primer design for this transcript

Primer3Plus can design qPCR Primers that straddle exon-exon-junctions, which amplify only cDNA, not genomic DNA.
Click here to load the transcript sequence and exon structure into Primer3Plus

Exonprimer can design one pair of Sanger sequencing primers around every exon, located in non-genic sequence.

The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.

You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
  Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
