ID: PLXA1_HUMAN
DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Plexin-A1; AltName: Full=Semaphorin receptor NOV; Flags: Precursor;
FUNCTION: Coreceptor for SEMA3A, SEMA3C, SEMA3F and SEMA6D. Necessary for signaling by class 3 semaphorins and subsequent remodeling of the cytoskeleton. Plays a role in axon guidance, invasive growth and cell migration. Class 3 semaphorins bind to a complex composed of a neuropilin and a plexin. The plexin modulates the affinity of the complex for specific semaphorins, and its cytoplasmic domain is required for the activation of down- stream signaling events in the cytoplasm (By similarity).SUBUNIT: Interacts directly with NRP1 and NRP2. Interacts with FARP2, RND1 and KDR/VEGFR2. Binding of SEMA3A leads to dissociation of FARP2 (By similarity).SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane (Probable); Single-pass type I membrane protein (By similarity).TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Detected in fetal brain, lung, liver and kidney.SIMILARITY: Belongs to the plexin family.SIMILARITY: Contains 4 IPT/TIG domains.SIMILARITY: Contains 1 Sema domain.

mRNA Secondary Structure of 3' and 5' UTRs
The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.

ModBase Predicted Comparative 3D Structure on Q9UIW2
The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.
Orthologous Genes in Other Species
Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
