-  Comments and Description Text from UniProtKB
  ID: PCBP2_HUMAN
DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Poly(rC)-binding protein 2; AltName: Full=Alpha-CP2; AltName: Full=Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein E2; Short=hnRNP E2;
FUNCTION: Single-stranded nucleic acid binding protein that binds preferentially to oligo dC. Major cellular poly(rC)-binding protein. Binds also poly(rU). Negatively regulates cellular antiviral responses mediated by MAVS signaling. It acts as an adapter between MAVS and the E3 ubiquitin ligase ITCH, therefore triggering MAVS ubiquitinationa and degradation.
SUBUNIT: Identified in a mRNP complex, at least composed of DHX9, DDX3X, ELAVL1, HNRNPU, IGF2BP1, ILF3, PABPC1, PCBP2, PTBP2, STAU1, STAU2, SYNCRIP and YBX1. Interacts with IFIH1 and RNF135. Interacts with MAVS (via C-terminus) and ITCH (via WW domains).
INTERACTION: Q15365:PCBP1; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-945799, EBI-946095;
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Note=Loosely bound in the nucleus. May shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Detected in all tissues examined.
DOMAIN: The KH domains mediates poly(C) binding.
PTM: Phosphorylated. The non-phosphorylated form(s) exhibited the strongest poly(rC)-binding activity.
SIMILARITY: Contains 3 KH domains.

-  Primer design for this transcript

Primer3Plus can design qPCR Primers that straddle exon-exon-junctions, which amplify only cDNA, not genomic DNA.
Click here to load the transcript sequence and exon structure into Primer3Plus

Exonprimer can design one pair of Sanger sequencing primers around every exon, located in non-genic sequence.

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
  Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
